New Summer Reading Series at Austin Java

Summer 2008 marks the inaugural RIOT Ink Summer Reading series.

It will take place at Austin Java, a fine establishment that serves caffiene, alcohol and casual gourmet (like spinach goat cheese quesadillas and grilled tuna nicoise salad). They are funky YET (!) refined. There are a couple of locations, but we’ll be at the one on 1206 Parkway @ 12th Lamar They have a lovely patio out back, and that’s where–shall we say–the magic happens, at 7-8:30pm every other Thursday. We will feature one outstanding poet every evening, and follow that up with a RIOT Ink segment and moderated open mic.

The first reading is on May 29th

and will feature John Herndon.

He is a damn fine poet and worthy of your ears. Feel free to peruse his official ACC bio where there’s a small sampler of his work. Unofficially, he’s a great professor and a good friend. He has a jam band called The Pound Dogs, and makes excellent barbeque.

If you are a writer and interested in reading your work, we’d love to have you. Please shoot us an email at because.words@gmail.com and send along a short bio with contact information.
